Valhalla - home of the Valkyrie
World of the Handmaidens of Odin
Odin, God of War, Wisdom, Poetry, and Magick, held court in Valhalla, where brave soldiers were sent after their death. The soldiers remained there waiting for the end of the world and the great battle that would ensue at that time.
Odin sacraficed an eye for the priviledge to drink from the Mimir, or the fountain of wisdom. Odin had 3 wives who were all earth Goddesses,and his son was Thor. Odin was known for his 8 foot steed named Sleipher, his spear named Gungnir, and his ring named Draupner. He also had 2 ravens who rode on his back, named Huginn (thought) and Muninn (memory).
The Valkyries were warrior maiden who attended and brought the brave soldiers to Odin. The Valkyries rode through the air in brillant armour, directed battles, distributed death lots among warriors, and conducted the souls of slain heroes to Valhalla. The leader of the valkyries were Brunhild and Freyja, goddess of love, fertility, and beauty. Freyja resided in celestial realm, Folkvang, where it was her priveledge to receive half of all the warriors, while Odin received the other half.
There were many well known Valkyries, some known to have fought at Troy.
